I’m new the Brathay Windermere Marathon & Half having not photographed it before. Being asked by them to do it was something I didn’t imagine would happen, but it did :) so this event meant I had to work really hard to pull off the final result of a turn around of less than 12 hours to upload the photographs.

First off I didn’t know the route so that was one box that needed ticking off with a 64km bike ride, thankfully on one of the hottest days in the Lake District. I married that up with going to see the Fred Whitton at Grasmere too while I was there. After riding the route I had a really good idea of the best places to go. I also didn’t know the route timeline so figuring that out was fun and pretty close to what actually happened.

On the day the trains didn’t start till 11am so that was a little late, which meant an hours bike ride to Brathay at 7am, the roads where quiet so all was well. On getting there I didn’t need to sort out much so photographed the start of the 10in10 and then headed out to the first route point.

It was a bit tense taking photos at the first point when so many people were coming though, I tried my best. The second point for the Half Marathon worked out pretty well and then my final point with a view to Windermere lake was great, maybe a few to many cars by the runners were really happy to be near the end.

Finally I jumped back on my bike and rode home. With the only thing being in mind that I need to edit 3778 photos as quickly as possible, no half a job happening here I prefer everyone gets a great shot of them selfs. The other thing on my mind was four cups of tea and a pizza!

Finishing off at about midnight and then getting back up at 4:30am to make them live :)
